My first dog blasted out the front door like an RPG and I pretty much slept in her bed (she would claim out her place in the center before I got there). Later I noticed street people had better behaved dogs than mine. My next dog was raised by the old school technique of yelling no as soon as you can. I read a book and hired a trainer for a few lessons but I was young and lacking in discipline and commitment. Been there done that.

Jumping ahead a decade or two with an increasing fascination and passion for dogs and their relationship with people I decided to hire a professional dog trainer and kennel owner to teach me how to train dogs. I lived at the kennel for a month and worked with six rescue dogs, six different combinations of energy, focus and learning styles.

I continue to learn from my canine and human clients, other trainers, and all sorts of media, recent and traditional. Currently I am two years into volunteering at the Austin Humane Society training dogs that are up for adoption and assisting in their Dog Manners classes. I am a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.
